My Grandfather used to say, "You knock them dead when you dress in Red, but you look like Helen Brown (or hell in Brown)". I understand this is part of a song and would love to know the rest of the lyrics if anyone knows them. Thanks.

Doody,
Google song lyrics. Type in: you knock em dead when dressed in red but you look like Helen Brown". It was recorded by Billy Rose. The song lyrics are cute. Hamnurse
SHE LOOKS LIKE HELEN BROWN
(Fred Fisher / Billy Rose)
Paul Specht & His Orch. - 1927
Ross Gorman & His Fire Eaters (vocal: Jimmy Kern) - 1927
Also recorded by:
Oh, she looks like Helen Brown
Oh, she looks like Helen Brown
Rosy cheeks and eyes of blue
When she smiles, I'm tellin' you
She looks like Helen Brown
She's the hottest gal in town
When she goes by, the boys all cry
She looks like Helen Brown
She looks like Helen Brown
Yes, she looks like Helen Brown
When she's dressed in green or grey
Scotsmen through their dough away
She looks like Helen Brown
She's the hottest gal in town
(Oh, she looks like Helen Brown) And how
She looks like Helen Brown
When that baby starts to strut
Ev'rybody loves her, but
(She looks like Helen Brown) Yessir
She's the hottest gal in town
She knocks 'em dead dressed up in red
But she looks like Helen Brown
Helen (Gurley) Brown was famous! I didn't know about the song. Thanks!
Your request brought tears to my eyes because it reminded me of a song my Papa (grandpa) used to sing to me when I was a little girl! What a cute song your grandpa sang to you! Here's the one mine sang:
Doodle oodle oodle
Doodle oodle oodle
Doodle oodle oodle, oo!
Good-bye now!
(they repeat the "doodles" as they exit)
Check "Hi-Heeled Sneakers." That may or may not be what you're looking for; good luck.
Just last week, I asked my daughter who was singing a song on a favorite tv show, cause it was driving me nuts, I wanted to download the song. My daughter told me to type: lyrics: & as many of the lines as you can remember, into Google, then you get all these sites that have various songs & the lyrics to them.
Another great source is tunefind.com, particularly if you know the movie or TV show. The site includes a 30-second sample of the song to help confirm.
