I am at a total loss here. It has a stiff, pointy leaf with some pattern and shallow roots.

The markings on some of the leaves are near identical to those found on Sansevieria (Snake plant), though I'm not sure that's what it is.
I have inserted a picture from a snake plant into your picture so you can compare the two.
Yesss this is it! Thank you, would never have found this. This variety of snake plant is apparently called Sansevieria Hahnii.
From what I can see in the picture, it looks like a spider plant.
