I went to the salon and asked for my hair to be coloured like the second photo, but during the process the stylist said that the hair had come out lighter than what I had asked for. I don't really like it and want to go back to brown. How long would I have to wait before I could have this done and would it be better to get it done professionally or get a box of dye?

It is recommended that you wait 6 to 8 weeks before dying your hair again. If you paid to have your hair dyed the first time I would go back to the salon and ask them to fix it. They made the error and you paid good money to have this done. You deserve to have your hair color the way you want it.
It is recommended that you wait two weeks between chemical treatments. Deep condition every week.
