We are inheriting 70's era wood-laminate paneling in our dining room. We want to white wash it. Does anyone know if whitewash will even adhere to wood paneling?

Don't know what happened to the post, but here goes again. We rehabbed a house that had laminate paneling and nothing would stick to it. We finally just cleaned it and buffed it a little and it looked fine. White wash is messy. Unless you pretreat with sealer and finish with several more coats of sealer that stuff comes off on everything and runs when it's humid. It works best on unpainted wood and from my experience with laminate I'm sure it won't work. Hope you'll be happy in your new home. (08/11/2007)

You can paint paneling if it is sanded lightly and evenly with a fine grit sandpaper then cleaned and dried. We too have old paneling in our home. (08/12/2007)
