Will my neutered cat start spraying if I get a new pet? I have sugar gliders that I want to bring home, but I'm worried my cat will start spraying. Do cats usually react to small caged animals? About how long after I bring them home will he start to spray (if he does), within a day or within few weeks? I'm not worried about them getting along, they are all extremely well tempered, and my cat is cool as a cucumber. But if he sprays, my house mates won't stand for it, and I really don't want to re-home any of them, I urgently need help.

In my experience, cats only spray when they are feeling territorial. My cats never paid any attention to hamsters, gerbils etc. except for smacking their lips a bit. Now a new cat is always a different ball game. But I dont think you should have any trouble with sugar gliders.
