Total Time: 30 minutes
Yield: one artwork
Supplies:
- standard white economy paper plate
- polystyrene ball with a diameter of 65mm
- polystyrene ball with a diameter of 55mm
- white cotton filling
- pair of 10mm pink wiggle eyes
- small piece of black felt
- strip of red felt
- two sewing pins with black heads
- one sewing pin with a yellow head

- powder blue acrylic paint
- black, blue and yellow felt-tip pens
- paintbrush
- sharp knife
- pliers
- standard scissors
- needle and strong thread
- polystyrene glue
- quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
Steps:
- Use the powder blue paint to add an uneven layer of paint over two thirds of the plate.
- Add the snow by gluing the cotton filling to the bottom third of the plate.
- An adult will need to do this step ~ use the knife to cut both polystyrene balls in half.
- Use the polystyrene glue to affix the one half of each ball to the plate to make the snowman. Allow to dry thoroughly.
- Use the polystyrene glue to add the eyes and allow to dry thoroughly.
- An adult will need to do this step ~ use the pliers to snip the yellow and black pins shorter.
- Push the yellow pin into the snowman's head to make a nose.
- At both ends of the red felt strip make small incisions, so that it will look as if the scarf has fringes.
- Glue the scarf to the snowman's neck.
- Cut half-a-hat from the black felt.
- Glue the hat to the top of the snowman's head.
- Use the black felt-tip pen to add a mouth. Add icy cheeks with the blue pen and then use the black pen again to add small freckles.
- Use the shortened black pins to add two buttons to his body.
- Break the twig into two small parts and glue a winter tree to the left of the snowman's body.
- Use the yellow pen to add a winter sun behind the snowman's head.
- An adult will need to do this step ~ use the needle and thread to add a hanging thread.
- Hang and enjoy your artwork!
