With my leftover t-shirt yarn from another project, I made this basket to hold mail. It is nice and sturdy made from the yarn.

Supplies:
- t-shirt yarn leftovers
- size H crochet hook
- scissors
Steps:
- First, do a slip stitch onto crochet hook and chain as many chains necessary depending on the length you want your bottom of the basket to be. I did 20 chains. At the end of the chains, I inserted my crochet hook into the second chain from the hook and did a single crochet in the top of each chain until I reached the end. Then, I turned the row to the other side and did another row of single crochet in each hole. Continue to do this pattern until you have the desired size for the bottom of your basket. I did about six rows.
- Second, to build up the sides of the basket, crochet a half double crochet into the back loop of the row in which you want to build up the sides all the way around. Continue to do this for two or three rows. At that point, you can then do the remaining rows with half or double crochets in the holes between the stitches on the previous row.
- Third, on the last row cut off the tshirt yarn and to hide the end weave into the top of the last row. To make the two end handles, crochet about 10 chain stitches for one side of the basket and a second set of ten chain stitches for the other side. Attach the ends of each side of the chain handles by weaving into the top of the last row of the basket, one on one side of the basket and one on the other side of the basket.
- The basket is ready to use.
