Yarn Flower Hair Clip - finished clip with yellow yarn flowers This is a pretty and a little bit sparkly hair clip with three dainty flowers. Make one to match your outfit. These would be a great seller at bazaars and craft fairs.

Supplies:

remnant of double knitting yarn
3 sticky backed jewels
1 pencil
1 pair of scissors
PVA glue
1 plain hair clip

Yarn Flower Hair Clip - hair clip or barrette

Steps:

Cut a small length of yarn the length of the pencil.

Yarn Flower Hair Clip - cut pencil length piece of yarn

Take the end of the rest of the yarn and lay it across.

Yarn Flower Hair Clip - take the end of the other yarn and lay across the piece lying along the pencil

Hold it in place with your thumb.

Wind it around the pencil until you have about 40 turns.

Yarn Flower Hair Clip - begin wrapping the rest of the yarn around the piece laying against the pencil 40 times

Yarn Flower Hair Clip - snip yarn leaving a short tail

Slip it off the pencil and take hold of the ends of the short piece. Tie them in a single knot and pull tight.

Yarn Flower Hair Clip - slide yarn off pencil and tie the two short tails together tightly

Tie a knot and pull tight again.

Cut off all four loose ends.

Apply a little PVA glue to secure them.

Yarn Flower Hair Clip put a drop of PVA glue in center of flattened flower to secure cut yarn ends

Make two more. Apply more PVA to the hair clip and arrange the flowers in place.

Leave undisturbed until the glue has dried and then attach a sticky jewel to the centre of each. Use more PVA if they don't stick very well.
