The completed Zipper Pouch It is a great idea to reuse plastic bottles. I figured out how to make an unusually decorated and very original pouch out of plastic bottles. The applique is made of plastic bottles of different colors and fixed on the inside of the pouch. The outside of the pouch has a smooth beaded surface. This project will not cost you much, but the result will please you.

Total Time: 1.5-2 Hours

Supplies:

9 plastic bottles of different shades of color - 3 green, 3 blue, 2 brown, 1 transparent
1 transparent two liter plastic bottle
blue threads #36
small beads 2 mm (I used polychrome chameleon beads - blue/green/brown)
1 blue zipper 13-15.5 cm long
1 needle
scissors
ruler
paper
pencil
felt-tip pen
awl
1 mat or an old fat magazine
cotton wool/a piece of fabric and alcohol (to clean plastic from traces of the felt-tip pen)
color pencils (optional)
1 knife (optional)

Steps:

You need smooth plastic of different colors. It is mainly located in the middle of the plastic bottles. Therefore, remove labels, wash the bottles (if necessary) and cut out the middle (strip).

Draw the template of the pouch on paper (see photo with dimensions).

Put a transparent strip of two liter plastic bottle on top of the template. Using the felt-tip pen mark the contours of the pouch.
Mark the points for stitching.

Cut out the pouch with scissors or using the ruler and the knife. Put under a mat or an old fat magazine and using the awl make holes for stitching.

Make the pattern of the future mosaic. You can use a picture of any stained-glass window. Sign and / or mark colors with colored pencils.

Put the plastic of the corresponding color on top of the mosaic pattern and circle the outline with a felt-tip pen. Cut out the plastic piece using scissors.

Cut out all the pieces of the mosaic like in the previous step.

The plastic is colored in a pattern resembling two fish.

Put the mosaic pattern on top the mat. Put the front part of the pouch on top of the mosaic pattern. Put a piece of the mosaic in the appropriate place according to the pattern.
Using the awl make several small holes for stitching in two layers of plastic - in the piece of mosaic and in the front part of the pouch.

Put the thread in the needle, make several knots (to make a big knot). String a piece of the mosaic onto the needle, then a plastic of pouch, then one bead. Poke the needle back through the hole, tighten the thread and on the reverse side make 2 knots around the first knot. Cut the thread.

Fix the piece at other holes as in the previous step.

Fix all parts of the mosaic. Using cotton wool or a piece of fabric and alcohol clean the surface of the pieces from traces of the felt-tip pen. As a result, you will get a beaded smooth plastic outer side of the pouch, and all the pieces of the mosaic will be under it - inside the pouch.

Connect the parts of the pouch using thread and beads as in the previous step, but without poking the needle back through the hole. Tight the thread and make final knot around the beads (it will be not so easy). First connect the bottom, then the side. Add beads to another side too.

Secure the end of the zipper by stitching it. You can decorate the ends of the zipper by sewing on beads. Sew on the zipper: make base stitch in one direction, then turn the box and make the base stitch in the another direction - for another part of the zipper.

Your original pouch is ready. Hide the ends of the zipper inside the pouch and enjoy the work done.
