You only really need four ingredients for this one and it's super easy :-) It makes a huge amount of salad for less than $5.00! Walgreens has a sale once a month for the olives (89 cents per jar with in store coupon, limit three so I stock up) and markets always have sales on canned green beans for less than a dollar. Lettuce and onion combined are currently under three dollars.
Did I mention you don't really need a salad dressing for this one? Plenty of flavorings are built in but you could add a tad of extra virgin olive oil to coat lettuce and onion if desired ;-)
Place the green beans, olives and olive juice in a medium bowl. Pour in the olives and liquid. Cover and marinate at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Toss lettuce and onions together in a large bowl. Toss with olive oil if desired. Top with marinated beans and olives, toss and serve.

This page contains the following solutions.
Cook beans as directed, drain and chill. Slice onions and break into rings, season and toss with oil and vinegar.
Cook green beans until done, but still firm. Drain. Add onions, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, oil, and vinegar. Toss. Serve at room temperature or chilled.
Prepare marinade by combining vinegar, oil, onions, salt and pepper. Chill beans in marinade several hours. Remove beans from marinade and add crumbled bacon to them.
I made a very interesting, spicy green bean salad (like potato salad) with little bits of veggies from the fridge that was so tasty, it became a family favorite.
Fresh new potatoes and green beans will make this delicious salad.
