Homemade Bird FeederHere is a bird/squirrel feeder hubby made for our yard. Although the design is not his own, he saw one in his customer's yard and came home, made it out of scrap wood (leftover from a boat he is working on), and a large pickle jar we had in the house.

Ladder as a Hanging TrellisWith limited space for a garden, I have to come up with new ways to grow things. This is the new hanging trellis I made to grow cantaloupes on. It is an old ladder supported by plant hooks on the fence side and utility hooks and nylon string for the outside.

Make a Garden "Bed" Out of an Old Bed...This is an old metal bed frame of my sister-in-law's that she was selling at our 3 family garage sale for $3.00. I had always wanted a "flower bed" but decided to make a "salad bed instead".

Using Every Bit of Laundry DetergentHere is a surprise that I discovered recently. It may surprise you, too. This is not a reflection on the product in the picture because about the same amount came out of a very expensive All Free and Clear. It is what is left in the bottle, which would normally be trashed.

Make Your Own Can DrainerI found this expensive single can drainer at a local thrift shop. While it was a fluke to find that particular thing that I needed, it was not the best part of this tip. If you only have one thing to drain, why dirty up a colander or something similar.

Make Plant Markers Out of Milk JugsThese are cost free labels for any and all flower and/or vegetables you want to identify. They are cut from plastic milk bottles but any clear, or plain white plastic containers that were not holding dangerous liquids, (toxic, or hazardous to handle), are fine.

Freeze Recycled Containers for LunchesI was eating some applesauce and yogurt today and I had this amazing idea. If you filled the yogurt cup 1/2 full of water and froze it, you could fill the applesauce cup with fruit, pudding, yogurt, dip, dressing, ice cream, or even applesauce!

Owl Painted GourdOne of the many gourds I have done. This features a large kettle gourd, cut open. The opening has been coiled with long SC pine needles. The process is actually a weaving technique, and adds a nice touch to many gourds.

Bottle Wind ChimesI make the wind chimes out of liquor bottles, wine bottles, and this one happens to be a wine cooler bottle. I use a glass cutter and cut off the bottom. I use a ceramic knife sharpener to smooth the sharp edges. If it has a screw on top, that's a plus.
