Today I cooked scrambled egg on toast and coffee, using two "burners", and had it all piping hot and delicious at the same time. I used the top of my kettle to keep the buttered toast hot whilst I was cooking the scrambled egg.

My keychain/car remote broke. The small end that had a hole that allowed the metal ring to loop through it broke so I couldn't hook the key ring to the remote anymore.

Tip: Blanket Curtain Without Sewing

This blanket was the perfect size, color, and price to cover my closet. But my sewing machine is in storage so I got 10 binder clips and a package of shower curtain rings from the dollar store, and made them work.

Tip: Wash Laundry Detergent Cap

I hate having streaks of detergent running down my detergent bottles. It will then drip onto my dryer. After it dries, I have to scrub to get it off.

Binder for Crossword PuzzlesI love crosswords and save the ones from the newspaper. Rather than have a pile of old newspapers lying about, I glue them to a piece of 3 ring paper with the answers on the back and keep them in a binder.

Rubbing Alcohol as Eyeglass CleanerI keep rubbing alcohol in a small 2 oz. spray bottle. I use it to clean my glasses. You could also use your own homemade glass cleaner, but I find it easier to just fill it with the rubbing alcohol.

Seal a Soup MugI love a certain mug for just about everything from soup to stew, ramen and hot beverages. But sometimes, I have to wait for a toasted sandwich, toast, etc.

Silicone Packets for Moisture ControlI save those small silicone bead packets that you get with some items. I put them in a decorative bowl in the bathroom. It helps to absorb some of the moisture so I don't develop mold in the bathroom.

Spray Vinegar after ShoweringI keep a spray bottle of vinegar by the shower. When I am done showering, I use the squeegee and then I spritz the shower walls and inner curtains with the vinegar. It keeps mildew at bay and disinfects the shower.

Getting All the Toothpaste out of the TubeWhen I can no longer get any more toothpaste out of the tube, I cut the tube into 2-3 inch sections and store them in a baggie. When I need toothpaste, I wet the brush and swipe some toothpaste from the cut sections.

Placemat as Larger Size Mouse PadI have a place mat on the top of my desk for when I snack while playing Scrabble. I have another on my pullout tray where the keyboard and mouse are. It is big enough to keep me from running off the edge with my mouse.

Single Serve Whipping CreamBeing single and thrifty, I buy the large tub of whipping cream. By the time I get home, it is slightly soft. I use an ice cream scoop to place one scoop of cream into several plastic snack-size baggies and store them in the fridge/freezer.

Shucking CornCut off both ends of the corn. Peel off all but 2 -3 layers of the husk. Then either steam for 8 - 10 minutes or wrap in a damp towel and microwave for 1 1/2 - 2 minutes per ear.

Stopping Up a Vent HoleI am trying to clean up an old laundry room for storage and this old vent hole was going to let in creepy crawlies. I also had an old flashlight that had corroded connectors for the battery.

Crochet Cluster Stitch That Uses Less YarnI was making a hat using the cluster stitch, and I was worried that I would not have enough yarn. The regular cluster stitch uses 3 yarn overs then pull through 4 loops. We'll I left off 1 of the yarn overs and pulled through 3 loops.

Use Febreze to Clean Artificial PlantsI spray Febreze generously onto the whole flower/foliage arrangement, tree, etc. This works just as well as commerical cleaners made specifically for silk flowers. Just spray, no wiping necessary.

Wash Fruit to Prevent Fruit FliesWash all fruit thoroughly before storing, especially bananas! Your fruit fly problem will be quickly remedied.

Getting Melted Crayon Out of Dried ClothesGo to your nearest a Dollar Tree or Dollar General and buy a bottle of Awesome. Spray Awesome directly on the dried crayon and soak in hot water. Then use your choice of laundry detergent to pretreat the stain again. After about 10 to 20 minutes put back in machine and wash again.

Treating Skunk BreathRecently one of my dogs got sprayed in her face by a skunk. Her breath was horrible, even after we repeatedly rinsed her mouth and face. Finally, I discovered that after feeding her raw carrots and potato chunks, the smell disappeared.

Saving Favorite RecipesI love and collect cookbooks. I go through the cookbooks and write down in pencil in each cookbook the page numbers of the recipes I want to make. This saves me so much time and I have the recipes right at hand.

Use Ice Scraper for CleaningUsing my favorite and best cooking pot, I put some green beans on to cook and went to the computer to check the weather while the strings beans were coming to a boil. Next thing I knew, the smoke alarm was blaring...

Use Wax Paper for Non-stick Cake PansTrace the bottom of cake pan onto wax paper and cut out the circle. Cut wax paper strips the height of sides of your pan. Coat inside and bottom with oil. Put wax paper circle and strips inside pan.

Discarding Used Sewing Machine NeedlesThis tip is too easy, but I never thought of it. I always wrapped mine in duct tape. My sewing machine instructor said that she puts her old ones in an empty medicine container, keeps it in the drawer till full then tosses. I love this idea.

Hot Thighs Better than Hot WingsBuy a family pack of chicken thighs. Slice a 1/2 inch filet from each side of thigh, leaving the bone-in piece. This yields three finger-dipping size of meaty pieces.

Towels to Make Level CakesTake old (low loop nap) towels. Cut them at two times the height of the side of your pan. Wet towel strips and pin to sides of pan. Use large safety pins.

Easy Freezer StorageI've used shoe boxes and small basins, three on each shelf, to divide my freezer. This still leaves room above the boxes to slide in frozen dishes and pizza. Ice cream and miscellaneous fit in front.
