The beautiful passion flower is our Tennessee State Wildflower. We let it grow wild on our homestead in our garden to encourage the bees to come pollinate our plants. I harvest the leaves of the passion flower to make extract which helps promote restful sleep.

Consult Nature For Color CombinationsThe wings of this poor fella were so worn and tattered, I wondered how he could fly. He managed quite well, thank you. I shooed him away several times to get him to land with wings staying open for a while. In five seconds he was back each time.

Our Little Henry the GeckoHere is my friend Henry the gecko! He is 1 of many around our yard. He always hangs around our covered porch. He is so smart, he hangs around my pots and hanging baskets for comfort and sometimes food. He loves our house thermometer. He loves to eat all the insects that try to take over our garden!

Cistanthe Grandiflora JazztimeThe Cistanthe grandiflora Jazztime is a wonderful plant. It casts its neon glow throughout the garden in multiple blooms. It is indeed an "eye catcher" and is drought tolerant. A small plant soon erupts into a very large, roving succulent like plant and produces many lovely blooms.

Hummingbird Takes a RestOur olive tree has become a "station" for Anna's hummingbirds in our garden to take a rest. It is a shady environment and the hummingbirds daily use it for a short break in their action. They "buzz" around the garden with great vigor and during their feeding times, they visit most blooming plants for a meal.

Summer Christmas CactusIn our mild and rather warmish climate near the coastal plain of S. California, our Christmas cactus often bloom in the summer. Here is one from August, 2016. Others on my Schlumbergera (name of Christmas cactus family) plant area are budding out now in September, 2016. The colors are amazing and neon!

Swallowtail Butterfly on Picotee Sky Flowers TreeEarly morning and the swallowtail had landed on the picotee sky flowers tree blossoms. It is as though the butterfly had posed for the photo, wings up stretched, body showing in the early light. The light coursing through its wings gave a wonderful view of the beauty of its wing markings.

Flowering Spider PlantI've had this spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum) for years and this year it flowered for the very first time. The flowers are very small, but quite pretty and delicate.

Garden BountyThis is some of our tomato harvest. They are wonderful to eat on a sandwich and make a great sauce to eat fresh or preserved. Family and friends also eagerly wait to receive some of our bounty, as no tomato tastes as good as a home-grown one. It amazes me to think they began as a small blossom.
