Hungry Baby Robins In Their Nest

These hungry little baby robins are awaiting their meal. The 2nd photo is of the newborns napping. They were taken atop our weeping cherry tree by the porch. The parents didn't mind us taking the photos.

Heritage Park GardenThis park is a nice place to sit and relax. There are quite a few trees that provide shade and many benches to sit on. The kids can play at the playground provided, while you sit and read a book. The town hosts many celebrations in the park over the summer months. A band plays every Thursday in the gazebo.

Confederation Park (Ontario)This park is where they hold some of the festivals they have every summer. This was once the site of Jones Shovel Company, until the 1960's. The Chamber of Commerce developed the park in 1967. Over the years, they have added walks, lighting, and ponds.

Joel Stone BeachThis picture was taken at Joel Stone Beach, where we spend most of the summer days. It is nice scenery, with boats coming through all day long. Joel Stone Beach is located along the St. Lawrence River. You can even see some of the islands from there. There is also a splash pad for younger kids.

Why Birds Are LuckyWhen I was young, I used to tie a blanket around my neck and then pretend that I could fly. I would imagine what it looks like to see the earth from the sky.

A Little Aloha in Northern California (Plumerias)It is always such a pleasure to see my lovely white plumerias enjoying the warm summer in Elk Grove CA. These tropical plants are seen often in the Polynesian Islands. Mine do well in the warm Northern California summer, as long as they come into my garage before the temperature drops below 42 degrees Fahrenheit.

HummingbirdsIt's hard for me to capture the beauty of hummingbirds as they are buzzing around like bees. I had to stand still at the feeder until a few of them decided I would not harm them.

Wonders of Nature (Cape Perpetua, Oregon Coast)Wonderful trip to the Oregon Coast with my family. A walk through Cape Perpetua uncovered this huge fallen spruce tree across the path. Awesome walk!

Delicate Rose PetalsRose petals are a delicacy for Spring and Summer. The velvety petals stuns the sun to shine through the trees upon the delicate rose bush casting a heavenly haze on the rosebuds that open up into the glamour of the rose as the petals open up in the sunshine.

Flowers Along A Hiking TrailMy 9 year old daughter and I recently had the opportunity to go to a beautiful spot in western Wisconsin, where we had a lot of fun hiking and exploring. My daughter loves to take pictures, and these are 7 of the hundreds of photos she took while we were hiking on trails. She can't decide which is her favorite!

Summer in the Mountains (Wyoming)After a very busy year so far, in July, we took the opportunity to take a little family vacation tent camping in the Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming. It is about a 7 hour drive from where we live. The vista was breathtaking!

Butchart Gardens (Victoria BC, Canada)Paradise right here on earth. A must-see if you go to Victoria, British Columbia. Butchart Gardens is a National Historic Site of Canada and has been in existence for more than 100 years.

Glacier with Waterfall (Alaska)Alaska has many magnificent glaciers. This particular glacier is the Menedenhall Glacier. It is located in the Tongass National Forest. The forest is a temperate rainforest. This means that they get as much rainfall as a tropical rainforest, but the temperature is lower, so they don't get the lush vegetation.

The Red Panda (Chengdu, China)I visited the panda park in Chengdu, China last year. I was working in China for a few weeks and had the opportunity to visit this amazing park. The park is the only place in the world that has these amazing red pandas.

My First Aquatic CannaI purchased this aquatic plant at my home improvement store. They are seasonally available there. This water plant was planted in soil in a pot and then placed in my pond using some pond rocks around the top part of the pot to hold it more securely in my small pond.

Viceroy ButterflyOur daughter was home for the weekend and she took this picture of a butterfly on our butterfly bush. I thought I had a monarch butterfly, but found out it's a viceroy. After looking up butterflies in our 1969 World Book Encyclopedia, I read that the two look alike.

Fawns Eating CornFour fawns that learned to eat corn treat. Believe it or not, they have to be taught what to eat by watching their mothers. But they will taste-test numerous flowers and landscape plants on their own. It's odd things they don't know to eat; like tacos, apples, grapes, etc., that they watch their mothers eat it or not.

Early one evening before sundown, in early July, as we were admiring a patch of pretty clover and dead nettle, I noticed a tiny red thing on the end of a grass flower stalk.

Wolves Alive (Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center)Darlene Kokobel created a wolf preserve area in Lake George, Colorado and educates, preserves, and conserves the wolf. The wolf preserve was started in 1993 to save a wolf from being euthanized in a local shelter. Today it is used to educate the public and have a fun environment for visitors.

Hibiscus Moscheutos - beautiful dark pink flowers

Hibiscus MoscheutosI found these this morning in a neglected corner of my back yard, an area I seldom visit. This plant has been in a pot for several years. I think by rendering such a beautiful display, it is trying to tell me it is worthy of its own little parcel of terra firma.
