Three wonderful sunny days this week tell me that the darkest days of winter are behind us. The seed catalogues landing in my inbox and in my postbox are filled with possibilities to make even more colourful and tasty edible bouquets than the ones I created last summer.

Pretty Weeds - pink five petal flowers and white and yellow daisy like ones
Pretty WeedsI don't even know what these weeds are called, but they are so pretty that I don't pull them out. They add lovely colour to my garden. If fact I have heard it said that a weed is any plant which grows where you don't want it to.

Boats at Beaver Lake (NC)Everyone loves to boat and hike and every other kind of nature opportunity in Asheville, NC region. This is a great little lake bordering a fancy neighbourhood, and this boat corral region belongs to the neighboring community.

Our Town (Hot Springs, NC)This is a view of Hot Springs, NC at dusk, from the top of Serpentine Road. I have come here with my love more than once, sometimes at night, to view the twinkling lights. When I have had to come alone, I have taken photos and shown them to him, at various times of the day or night.

Goose Family - two Canadian geese and two goslings
Goose FamilyThese fun geese were walking at Lake Tomahawk Park, one important park in the cute little town of Black Mountain, NC. Black Mountain is 40 minutes or so away from Asheville, NC. All sorts of birds and creatures like to hang out in this park, including early-morning joggers, fishermen, and women, and of course geese.

Heart-Shaped StoneIt is the month of love! The perfect time to share this photo. I took this photo during my last holiday on the beach at Gericke's Point. During that holiday, I noticed how often one sees a heart in nature. It is almost as if nature is also celebrating love.

Annual Peace LilyI received this plant in 2008 when my father passed away and have lovingly cared for it since. I wait for it to bloom every year. It takes quite a while after winter starts, for its bloom to actually open but, when it does, I am filled with a peace that its name represents.

Backyard Bird Fountain FunWe had picked up an inexpensive fountain for our backyard feathered friends a few years ago, and I piled rocks on the top tier as it seems by watching them, they appear to like the naturalness of the rocks, maybe it makes it more realistic to them, and we just love seeing them enjoy it.

Clear Bird Feeder VisitorsI got my father a clear birdhouse feeder because he adores interacting with animals, but he's now too old and fragile to go outside to play with them as often. I initially got it so he could watch the birds eat the food he left inside, but now it seems every creature visits.

An old mill in Franklin County, NC
Laurel Mill (Franklin County, NC)During the 40s and 50s, when our family traveled to Louisburg to visit the aunts, we would take the longer route and ride by Laurel Mill. I remember stopping and going inside the mill, watching the corn being ground and walking around and listening to the water run over the dam. I developed a love for old mills.

Balboa Park is a top-ranked tourist destination here in San Diego. There are lots of sight seeing, walking and some free exhibits you can take advantage of like the Botanical Garden.

Appalachian MagicI live near the Appalachian Trail and this is a picture from the summer of a sunset. I find it very inspiring being able to go look at places like this and get exercise at the same time.

The view is incredible. You can visit here just for a stroll and the fresh air, too!
