Quite by accident, I realized that spatula handles come off. And when they do, omgosh! Now I am guessing this is not all food that gets trapped, but perhaps soap scum and/or?

Getting Rid of Bugs in CrawlspaceGet three pounds of food grade diatomaceous earth. Pour it at opening of crawlspace. Put on safety glasses and one of those little white germ masks. Get a leaf blower and blow it all under house. The bugs ingest it when they clean themselves, plus it dries out their exoskeleton which kills them.

How to Deter Swallows from Nesting in Your EavesI had a bunch of swallows trying to nest in a heat wave. I removed the mud during their construction, but it did not deter them from trying to build. I washed down the soffits and removed all trace of the mud they had put there, but they kept on trying to come back. The soffit is thirty feet from the ground so I taped an Old Spice stick deodorant to the end of my extension pole and applied a coat of deodorant to the window ledges and soffits. In less than two minutes the swallows were gone. Not sure how long it will last, but it sure worked well. All for the price of a stick deodorant. The only downside is the smell of Old Spice on my deck now, but it is better than the mess the birds were creating.

Removing Permanent MarkerTo clean permanent marker (Sharpie) from any non porous surface (table, floor, sink..etc), you can buy a tiny little bottle (1/2 inch square glass jar) of Testors Thinner #1148 from any hobby shop. Not the bigger bottle, it's different! Dip a Q-tip into the bottle and rub it on the marker, then wipe off excess with a tissue!

Ruler to the RescueI recently got a newish' bird feeder. I was trying to be careful pouring the seed into a funnel, then that overflowed. I had a lot of birdseed on my cutting board. I keep packaging supplies nearby and today just happened to have a ruler close. It occurred to me how much a straight edge might help.

Protect Important Instruction ManualsSoon after we were married, my husband surprised me with a sewing machine in a small cabinet. That was 58 years ago. I have taken good care of it and have never had any problems. To oil it, I have to pull out the instruction manual.

Reuse Leftover Scented Candle WaxI use a great deal of scented soy candles, mostly purchased on sale from various places. It's always bothered me that the candle can't burn to the bottom. I take the leftover wax in the candle, freeze and then chop out gently with a butter knife. I save it until I have enough for a six to eight ounce candle,
