My wife and I live in a mud brick house on a 5 acre property. We have goats, chickens, two dogs, a large vegetable garden and numerous fruit and nut trees. A small creek (stream) is close by from which we catch fish. We grow our own food and are planning to sell the excess to local markets. We are slowly developing our land into a sustainable organic farm. Two sayings we live by are "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, go without" and "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle"
