Thanks for all your responses. I have peace lillies at home too. In the case of the mystery plant, the flower is close to the ground.

Finally, mystery solved. Its an orchid called the Orchidantha fimbriata Holttum, a native of Peninsular Malaysia. Thanks to all who responded.

Correction, its a flower similar to an orchid and not an orchid. Yes, i am from Malaysia. And, my reference source consulted her biology teacher. Not sure if she was just jesting. Cheers
