My German Shepherd Died Suddenly?
Dogs are attracted to the sweetness of ethylene glycol (in auto antifreeze), which is very toxic. I do not know how fast it acts, though. Perhaps someone had a coolant leak or drained their antifreeze to replace it and your dog drank it.

Does a bulb of garlic mean a single clove or a head of garlic? (I love GARLIC!!)

partially coiled snake

What Kind of Snake Is This?
If it is small, then it could be a baby black racer : I just found one about 14 long on my lanai that looked similar to the photo.

Peek into drawer of boxes.

Organizing with Old VHS Tape Boxes
How about uses for the VHS tape itself : it is strong and flexible like a ribbon. I have used it in my vegetable garden tied from corner poles to mark the borders of my beds!

Storing Herbs In Recycled Parmesan Containers
I also store home grown herbs in the jars, but put them in a grinder after storage : FRESH GROUND HERBS !!

Keeping Drawer Organizers in Place
Use styrofoam packing pieces cut to size to wedge tray in place; also do the same to hold the silverware from tumbling!

I love to use the chunks of garlic in a pepper grinder: fresh ground garlic is great tasting!!!!!!

What is the Best Way to Crack Hickory Nuts?
I have soaked them overnight in water and then put them in a food dehydrator for 2-3 hours: they split open enough so you can pop in half with the twist of a sturdy knife. (Picking the meat is still a bit challenging but no shrapnel like you get with a vice...

Tape end marked by paperclip

Use Paper Clip to Mark Tape End
I use a single edge razor blade to keep the end of the tape easily available and then the tape can be cut without hunting up scissors! (Not good for young kids.)

Lubricate Nails Before Hammering into Hard Woods
I use small soap pieces with some water to make a batter-like mix: dip screws or nails in for easy penetration!

Old Credit Cards for Cleaning
Also great by the kitchen sink : scrape residue off no stick pans with no scratching, my favorite for cast iron, and dinner plates, etc.

Cleaning Holes on Mini Salt Shaker?
A bulletin board pushpin has a nice handle to manually unclog salt shaker holes. I keep one on a fridge magnet for easy access!

Use Bread Crust To Clean Iron Skillets
Sounds good. My favorite scraper is an old credit card. It can bend to fit the contours of any pan and is great for nonstick pans : no scratch !

Removing Skins From Tomatoes?
If you want to make sauce at a later date, just freeze the tomato whole in a plastic bag (core if necessary). Take tomato out and run hot tap water on it : the skin basically pops right off!

Cast Iron Pan

Cooking With Cast Iron Pans
Instead of salt scouring, I use an old credit card to scrape any residue off the pan before oiling.

Use Masking Tape to Make Seed Tapes
Seed tapes are great! You can use a pencil to roll them because thelead in a pencil is only graphite ( carbon ) and clay mixed in different proportions to determine the hardness of the lead (i.e. a #2 pencil).

Roasting Hickory Nuts?
I have had good results by soaking the nuts in water overnight, then putting them in a food dehydrator (or oven on low) for an hour or two : they split open enough to pop them open for meat access. Then you can roast the meat to your desired doneness.

Most alkaline batteries can be recharged several times, extending their useful life cosiderably! You need to invest in an alkaline charger, or try using your NiCd or NiMH charger.
