Oma is German for grandmother. My family has long had nicknames for grandmothers. For instance, I am Oma, my mother was Nana, her mother was Mema, her mother was MaMay, and HER mother was Munny.... sorry, 5 generations is as far back as I can learn about.
I'm a retired RN of 30 years. I live in the home of my dreams that makes me smile every day. I have 7 grandchildren, two cats and two remaining children, both of which are in their forties!!! what a shock!. My eldest son ( and the light of my life!) returned safely from Iraq and I am so grateful to God he returned safe, sound and whole in body and mind.
I volenteer at my church and at a local elementary school both as a gofer and reading mentor. I'm learning spanish. I'm fat and with a foot problem.
I try to travel at least once a year and this year I'm visiting my niece in Korea for a couple of weeks in the fall. Last year my pastor's family made me an honorary abuela ( grandmother) and I visited Mexico for 2 weeks as part of the family. Had a fablous time and want to rent a house in Mexico for a month next year ( 2009).
Starting to go for TMI-- too much information!
