Greetings from the Windy City!
Recently my employer, a well known Fortune 500 company, downsized the division where I've happily worked for the past 17 years. Fortunately I still have a job but unfortunately my pay rate was also drastically downsized. I was offered the opportunity to apply for a position which looked and smelled very much like my old job - at 37% less than my former annual salary. I accepted their offer for the "new position". Hey, I figured it was better than standing in line at the unemployment office with my former co-workers. After all, at 50, I wasn't thrilled about the prospect of competing for a job with twenty-something college graduates...
So here I am - a reluctantly thrifty guy, learning how to live a frugal and happy life!
