This website is exactly what I have been looking for...I came across it by accident. A bit about me - I am a 55 year old, young looking, young acting female, retired from 35 years of service with the federal government. I get questioned constantly about my early retirement, and my reply is - I love it! I can do anything I wish at anytime. And, there really is life at Noon!...I can go to a movie at 2pm, I can stay up till 3am playing video games - massive multiple online role playing games (mmorpgs) with thousand of people from all parts of the world. I volunteer two days a week at the local animal shelter, where I walk dogs.
I guess the whole purpose of this off the cuff (and perhaps off the wall) stream of my character and personality is to let people know that working till your 70 only to drop dead at 71 is not an edict etched in the Rosseta Stone. Enjoy yourself while you can and don't feel guilty. We are made to feel that retirement before 65 (and very soon it will be 70) is a show of disloyalty to an imaginary jury of our culture or showing yourself as free spirit but with a lack of ambition or purpose and direction.
I have many friends my age and friends 10-20 years younger, and we thorougly enjoy each other's company. I am very politically active, and campaigned diligently to oust the present congressman from our district, and we succeeded.
I am and MSNBC junkie-practically the only channel that is on from 6am and Morning Joe to 9pm with Rachel Maddow
I follow current music trends and bands, and frequently attend concerts (no, not The Monkees 2009 tour either). Here, I got a rant going but I think my profile gives people an accurate picture of me. I am warm, understanding, and I always have a willing ear. I hope to meet new friends...like opening packages at Christmas - always a nice surprise.
