Removing Blood Stains from White Clothes
Table salt (sodium chloride) will also get blood stains out of clothing. The salt hemolyzes (breaks open) the red blood cells. Just soak the blood stained clothes in a salt and water mixture.
More Life from Batteries
I save used AA batteries from electronics or other battery draining devices. They usually still have enough juice left in them to use in clocks for a long time. I have a jar marked Clock Batteries.
