I'm a mom of two girls who are having a great time searching for treasures at Goodwill and yard sales. We haven't been hit by the economic crisis yet, but we are trying to be proactive. I have read and reread the Tightwad Gazette and have applied many of the priciples to our daily life. It's amazing how much money we have been able to save since doing so. It's been fun too. I'm enjoying making food from scratch (so is my family), searching for alternative solutions and going on "treasure hunts" to the local thrift stores. My older daughter said it was more fun than our trips to Macys. I have to admit she's right. I use to think a bargain was $35 for a $60 sweater. Now I know the bargain is finding that sweater for $3 at Goodwill. OK, now this may sound dumb, but I feel like I've been giving my family more of a home.
