Ive read about using peroxide too...and I think I read that police forensic units use coca cola. Ive used peroxide on fabric and blood and it worked well but havent ever used it on wood. Ive not tried the coca cola but hear it eats away anything.

I have to agree with Ruth. I will start my mashed potatoes by using a hand masher but once I get many of the lumps out I will finish them by whipping with my electric mixer. I also sometimes add some low fat sour cream and chives.
