Butterfly with Autumn ColorsThis little beauty landed on the railing of a walkway in a local forest area. This was taken in the beginning of November in Nebraska. That year it got to 80 something degrees that day. Most of the leaves were already gone from the trees, but this little guy gave us some fall colors.
Making a Seek SackThis sort of thing is also called an I Spy Bag or a Peek-A-Boo Bag, but I call them Seek Sacks. I'm a sucker for alliteration. Anyway, this is a sort of solitaire hide-and-seek game involving a bag with a clear window, some sort of neutrally colored filler, and small tokens, toys, or other items.
CD/DVD PurseIn response to the one who asked about uses for DVDs... make purses! My mom mentioned liking the purses made from license plates, so I got to thinking about what kind of purse I could make her for her birthday of unusual things and I came up with the CD purse!
Giant Silk Moth (Polyphemus)As I was making beer munchies in my kitchen, I heard a light thumping on the window. I opened the curtain and saw this gorgeous, huge freaking moth. I looked him (her, actually, I think) up and discovered she was part of the giant silkmoth family called Polyphemus, after the Greek cyclops.

Awesome Purple Rose of SharonThis gorgeous lady was blooming at our local zoo, in their garden area. She obligingly posed for me. I loved this color against the background of orange flowers.
