Preheat oven to 400 F
Ingredients:
28 saltine crackers
1 C packed brown sugar
1 C butter (2 cubes)
1 pkg semi sweet chocolate chips
1/3 C chopped nuts (I've used pecans, walnuts, and almonds. All work great.)
Completely line a 13x9 inch baking pan with foil. Arrange a layer of crackers over the bottom of the pan. Make sure the bottom is covered. You may need to break some in half to cover the surface.
In a medium saucepan add butter and sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat until the mixture comes just to a boil. Remove the pan from the heat and pour evenly over the crackers in the pan.
Bake at 400 F for 5 minutes. The butter/sugar mixture will bubble. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips. When they are soft, spread evenly over the top and sprinkle with the nuts.
Cut into small squares. If you wait until it's cool it is hard to break or cut. Cool and store in the refrigerator.
