I do not throw away any glass or plastic jars that can be reused. I save the small ones for spices I buy in bulk at the store for a fraction of what they cost in bottles on the shelf. I also use them to store taco mix, gravy mix, beans, etc. Anything bought in bulk is usually fresher and less expensive.

I reuse mine all the time, spaghetti jars are my favorite! Salsa jars work great when reheating soup (Glass is much better in the microwave, plastic chemicals leak into the food)
I also use them to save space in the fridge, when there is only a little milk/or juice left in the carton, I use a jar.
Me too! I love doing this! I also use a vacuum sealer with a jar attachment to store things such as crackers, flour, etc in canning jars. It vacuum seals them closed, no bugs, and they don't go stale!
I also save the glass jars too. But I find I have a hard time removing any smells from the lids. Like vinegars especially. I have soaked them and scrubbed them with baking soda but the smell is still there. Do any of you have a solution for this dilemma?

If soda wont remove the scent, it's going to be there for a while. I lay a piece of clean, thin plastic (usually a produce bag or something similar, over the top of the jar before screwing on the lid. Then with kitchen shears, I trim away the excess.
