I have a kitchen with black and taupe granite countertops. The room is painted taupe and the cabinets are medium oak. There is a tan backsplash. I need to know what color window treatments would look best with these colors.

Maybe a cream, or ecru, with black trim-or black with cream/ecru trim? If you sew you could do this yourself and really have fantastic custom curtains.
Depending on your actual window, and any privacy needs, you could use a cream or taupe mini-blind and black topper (valance); if the window isn't too narrow you could use swags on either side.
Most kitchens look 'right' with cafe style curtains, valance, and swags, but again, it depends on your window size, privacy needs, and finally, the style of your kitchen. If you have a contemporary or ultra modern kitchen, swags might just be too twee to have to look at every day, although the cafe and topper look can be streamlined to be quite modern-use tabs instead of a gathered casing.
But if your kitchen is the slightest bit traditional or country, you could even use black in a gingham, it's a surprisingly nice look if not over done.
I think I would go with something in the green family maybe a sage color. You can also use that color with some accent pieces such as pot holders, dish towels, placemats, small kitchen mat etc. It always looks nice to add a 3rd color in there. Hope this helps.
