As a single mother of three with a limited income, I am always looking for great deals. I would love to be able to take my kids out to dinner and enjoy a dish free, clean up free meal. I am lucky enough to live close to a restaurant that has a family night where the kids can eat for $1. They get a kid's meal which includes a drink, fries, and a choice of a burger, corn dog, grilled cheese, chicken strips, or chicken nuggets.
Because my kids are a little older (15, 16, and 17), they want a bigger meal. This allows me to get them more than one meal with a variety of choices. For $12-15 I can feed a family of 4 and still have leftovers. The grilled cheese makes a nice lunch the following day for me and the burgers(they come with ketchup only or are plain) make a great after school snack for the kids. I know I get looks from other patrons as I walk out with 3 or 4 drink carriers and bags full of sacks with kid meals, but it gets the family fed.
When the kids were below age 12, I looked for restaurants that had kids eat free signs. I could get an adult meal at Denny's for $5 bucks and free meals for the kids. I could afford that one as well. I tried different restaurants in the area. It was a fun way to get out of the kitchen and not have to fix a meal after a long day of work and still provide for my family. Try it! It is a lot of fun!
