Lemon Sauce:
Place bread cubes and raisins into a 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Combine eggs, sugar, spices, salt and vanilla with scalded milk. Pour over bread and raisins. Bake in pan of hot water at 350 degrees F for about 50 minutes, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. This may be served plain or with lemon sauce. Lemon Sauce: In saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt. Add boiling water. Cook over low heat until thick and clear. Remove from heat. Add butter and lemon juice.
