Removing Smoke Smell from Outdoor BBQ?

We have an enclosed BBQ (wood fire) area, I clean the BBQ and grids after use (sweep up ash and coals), but the whole place still smells of old smoke. If the french doors are left open (leading to the area) the whole house ends up smelling. Is there something I can use/burn in the fireplace to eliminate the odours?

Thanks.
