Growing a Loofa Sponge?

It was on here once and I forgot to save it. What kind of plant do you plant to get the Loofa and how do you take care of them?

You will need to start your plants indoors around February and they take a long time to sprout. When you plant them outdoors in May or so, the vines will grow all over the place. I had 3 plants and they ended up completely covering the kids' fort and out to the swings.

We harvested lots of loofah, dried them over the winter and have sponges and new seeds for next year. I am not planting any this year since the harvest was so good.

Joyce,
I saw those plants (seeds) in the garden catalogue from R.H. Shumway.
