I have a strange problem. The other day, I was returning from the mall. I closed the front door and all of a sudden smelled something. I checked all over the room for the source of the smell. I sniffed everything in the room, and finally resorted to smelling my clothes.

Try hanging the belt outside in the hot sun for an hour or so. Keep a check on it to make sure it won't fade if it is dyed. Maybe something was spilled on it and it needs to be dried out. Another idea if the belt is dry not damp, is to put it into a large airtight container with an ample amount of newspaper.
Try saddle soap to clean it.
Vinegar - water solution???
Would the above methods work for a leather strap for a watch that has absorbed sweat as well?
I have same problem with my watch. Sour smell from sweat!
