Use One Cup Throughout The Day

Use the same cup or glass throughout the day to save on running the dishwasher more often.

This is a common practice in our house to cut back on the number of dishes to be hand-washed. Yep, we're still doing it the "old fasion" way in my home. Hopefully, this will change soon. We've been looking at portable dishwashers. Woo Hoo!

Except when you have a cold, flu, or stomach virus. You could keep reinfecting yourself.

This may seem gross, but sometimes I use the same *everything*. If a bowl or plate has only held a sandwich or some sliced fruit, it is probably still fine in a few hours. Of course, a) I'm vegan, so my food isn't quite as susceptible to dangerous pathogens, and b) I live alone!

To prevent this, I ALWAYS rinse my cup out with scolding hot water in between refills. I encourage others in the house to do the same.

Might not be frugal or thrifty but I buy a big stack of paper plates at Sam's Club and we use those for sandwiches, toast, a snack and what have you...you know simple non messy meals that you don't need to cut up. It saves work for me and I am busy enough.

What we seem to go through a lot of is silverware, especially spoons. My sink seems to fill up fast with dirty dishes. I am bad about getting the dishwasher unloaded to put the dirty ones in (big sigh!)
