Buying A Futon For Under $200.00?

I am looking for a futon under $200. I don't really want a used one, but don't know where to find one that cheap. I've been looking on the internet but haven't had much luck on finding a new one. Any suggestions?

We got our futon from IKEA for $179. It was the base model and serves as a spare couch and sleeping place for friends to use after a party. We brought a very nice 400 thread count fitted sheet in the same colour as our couch and dressed it up with a sheepskin throw.

Try Craigslist, freecycle, and San Francisco.

Try freecycle, I see them there all the time. Go to www.freecycle.org read the rules then sign up for your local group and ask and you may recieve! Another place to check is www.graigslist.org. they have a wanted and a free section.

I bought a nice one for my son at a local mattress outlet, Mattresses and More. They have a website and may have more than one location. Check the want ads for advertised cheap new mattresses, call the number and ask if they can get futons.

The owner of the mattress outlet place orders them straight from a warehouse at a much reduced price.

If you want a quality mattress for under $200, look on freecycle or craigslist for better brands.

Certain things do cost more for quality and durability.

Furniture falls into this category. In the long term, you'll do better with a lightly used but well made 8" Serta mattress futon from a well known retailer, than a new low-cost one from Wal-mart or Ikea.

Try Craigslist.com

The big box stores are a really great place for something like this in that price range. Try Wal-Mart, Meijer, Target, Big Lots. It wont last forever but you should get a few years out of one.
