Everyone needs a pick me up now and then. If you are in need of a little pampering, check to see if their is a beauty school nearby. You would be amazed at the services offered and how inexpensive they are.
I got a whole day of spa treatment complete with facial, cut, manicure, pedicure and deep conditioner for around $40, and the girls are so nice. They took their time which was nice, because it made me feel even more spoiled. In my town, a manicure alone would have cost more than I spent for the whole day.

Thanks for the reminder - I really need to see whether our local beauty college is still open!
The best thing about beauty school spas is the fact that the people performing the treatments are students. This means that in order to 'pass' their exams, which are your treatments, they *must* follow all the steps in both hygiene and procedure. These are most likely a combo of state regulations and instructor guidelines. What it really means is that they have to take their time and do things properly.
Don't expect that price everywhere! It certainly is much more here and the service is not always well overseen. I always ask for a "senior" student and have to pay a bit more for that, but have had really mixed experiences. Sometimes they leave the "senior" too much on their own and they may have not really had much experience in the area you are using and don't do as well as a "beginner".
I never thought to do this - and I was a hairdresser for 40 years before I retired. We moved to a new location. I have not been to a hairdresser that I would return to for the past 10 years because I cannot find one who will please leave the crown part of my hair longer because the hair there is slowly falling out, and the cowlicks make it stand straight up if there isn't enough hair there to weight it down. I know a student in the school will do all they can to please the client - so I am definitely going to try it. Thanks, and thumbs up!
