I was wondering if I should watermark my photo before uploading?

Are the photos of something you are putting on your own website in order to sell like plants? This is a popular kind of photo that does get used on other websites and used as if it were their own pic of a plant they want to sell. This happened to one of my relatives and she did fix all her plant photos so they have her name on them. If you have any photos like scenery you are concerned somebody could use as their own, then by all means watermark them. Better to be safe than sorry and go through the hassle of confronting the one who used it with out your permission.
So how do you watermark a photo? Do you need special software for it?
