Choosing Clothes to Wear to School?

My kids are always changing their minds about their school clothes at the last minute. Any ideas how to get them to make a clothing decision and to stick to it so we aren't running late every morning?

I agree with the wisdom of having your kids set out their outfits the night before. You may also wish to check the local weather as well just before bedtime so everyone can pick out and assemble their clothes and accessories that are weather appropriate.

Additionally...

*Simplify clothing selections by packing away off season clothing.

*Keep all school clothing in one area of your child's closet or limit it to certain drawers only. Go one step further and assemble ready to wear outfits and either hang up or store in hanging closet organizers - one outfit for each day of the school week.

*Eliminate last minute searches for matching socks by buying a different brand and/or color for each child. If your family prefers white socks consider Hanes brand socks which are available with different colors of stitching. And, if a sock doesn't have a mate, don't let it leave the laundry room.

Have them pick out their outfits the night before and make the rule that they can't change their mind. You are the boss, when they know they can no longer control you, they should shape up. If this doesn't work have them get up an hour earlier in the morning and I bet they will shape up really fast.

I had the five-pocket hanging organizers for my son - he would "load" his school clothes on Sunday evening for the next week. Of course, we had it easier with uniforms, it was just a choice between navy or khaki pants and red or navy shirts.
