Put the broken and washed green beans in a pot and bring them to a boil. Add the vinegar, sugar, and salt. Bring back to a boil and boil for 30 minutes. Pack in hot jars, cover with hot lids and rings. No need for a water bath. When you're ready to cook them, pour the brine off, rinse the beans good, then pour them in a boiler and add a quart of water. Season as you like.

This sounds good but I'm confused about "Servings: about 4."
About how many quart jars does this make? Thank you!
I'm so sorry I forgot to add how many quarts it makes. 2 gallons of broken beans will make 6-7 quarts.
Hugs, Paula
Canning Green Beans:
How much water do we put in the pot to "bring to a boil" with the beans before adding the vinegar, etc? (One cannot boil beans without some liquid) And can one use dill and less sugar? Thanks.
