I planted sweet potatoes and have several of these big beautiful plants now growing with yellow, red and lilac colored flowers. In other places where I planted the same sweet potatoes are the typical looking vine plants with flowers that look like morning glories.

Noope. It's a nicotiana, or flowering tobacco (not smokeable). They plant themselves from year to year. I guess your sweet potatoes didn't make it. But aren't they pretty?
My Four O'Clocks look just like this plant. So that is what I think it is possibly a yellow four O'Clock
I had some sweet potatoes set out and some morning glories vines was growing in them and the sweet potatoes bloomed like morning glories, they were mixed.
Hello! Whether it is Mirabilis jalapa or ornamental tobacco is very easy to find out : wonderful scent from the flowers of the four o'clock flower (Mirabilis jalapa) that produce a black seed as big as a green pea and which tubercle look like a black radish. The Ornamental tobacco leaves are lighter green, sticky and hairy. Hope this helps!
