Urine Stained Grout?

I have ceramic tile floors, off-white grout and a little boy with bad aim. The grout has become heavily stained and I'm having trouble cleaning it. I have tried plain water, vinegar, oxy clean, and bleach without good results.

I have the very same problem, only I have 2 kids (21 and 17). I am very interested in the responses. I have lived in my home for 20 years, so my grout has seen alot of hand scrubbing with a lot of different cleaning products and have sealed my bathroom grout well lets just say I keep a gallon can on hand now. I still hate to use their bathroom. I get it clean, smelling fresh and sealed again, and before you know it, one of them uses the bathroom again. Will watch for what others have to say.

Have you tried soaking a cotton ball in bleach and just laying it on the stain for 15-30 minutes. That is the only thing I can think of at the moment.

try using ammonia I don't know if it will get stains out but will help with urine odor. good luck.

Try MR. Clean Magic sponge. It seems to work wonders on removing almost any stain! I too have a 6 yr. old who occasionally misses and this works for me (however the stain hasn't been there a long time).

A commercial cleaner I use called Kaboom works really well. Spray, let set about 30 seconds, then wipe off with a damp cloth, sponge, whatever. It even continues to work after it's wiped up.

It's best to clean around the toilet at least once a week. If yo u get it clean to your satisfaction, apply grout sealer when dry so that future clean ups are a snap.c

The best thing I have used is pine-sol for cleaning up around the white grout, and deoderizing. Bleach just seems to make the smell worse, and does not go away! I mop at least twice a week between my husband and 4 year old, plus the new whizzer in training is crawling...so he likes to watch the big guys!

I just tried the Kaboom that was posted by Alex. It worked great! Thanks Alex!

Home depot makes a grout cleaner in a large orange bottle, it's amazing. Spray on, wait 2 minutes and wipe clean. It's also excellent at cleaning tiles with texture or divets.

After cleaning though, you would want to seal the grout, with a grout sealant to prevent the problem from reoccuring!

NATURES MIRACLE it will do the job..the best thing to do with it is..make sure you wipe your floor and that youve gotten all bleach or surficant products off of the surface in order to allow the enzyms and beneficial bacteria to do the job without being murdered right out of the gate (the number one source of any negative review of Natures Miracle is usually due to antibacterial substances already in play when you apply the natures miracle. This is a living product..its relatively harmless unless you are soaking in it for hours in a tub ..at which point you may have other issues to address. It is important to note..this is not some tile eating acid or sand paper abrasive or a whitener..this is a product that is going to devour the stains and odors entirely..the crud is its food..and dampness free of antibacterial agents are its habitat..therefore you must keep it active for a little while.. you dont like to be rushed when you are eating and you dont invite terrorists into the house durring mealtime either.. so once you apply the Natures Miracle full strength theres a few simple tips to keep the area you wish to have your new friends clean for you nice and hospitable for them while they work [1]: wet with a mixture of purified water and Natures Miracle (you can add a teaspoon of coconut water or similac to the damp rag or misting bottle if you wish..theoretically this energizes the enzymes/bacteria and they get hungry and multiply) its dire that you keep them moist cuz when its dry they die..[2] you must give them time..

this is not to say you have to keep your floor all wet for days.. but maybe two or three hours.. overnite is best if you dont want to do repeat treatments.. they WILL get the job done. but keep in mind..if you wax your floor and use comet and bleach etc..these products remain active when they dry.. so its important to remove residue before applying natures miracle.. i usually scrub spot with plain purified/spring waterand a scrub brush..rinse and wipe then i apply natures miracle full strength..and leave a towel soaked in natures miracle right on top of the treated spot and occasionally i come in and hit the spot with a clean wet brush to stir things up..and most nasty stains are gone the next day if it doesnt dry out durring treatment. it works..well ..really
