Using Paypal for Non eBay Purchases

I use PayPal whenever possible and for good reason. Just recently, I had questions on treating a sick furbaby. I had gone to a website where you deposit $9 in their paypal account and would get an answer to your question by a qualified person in that topic. I had no problem doing that, I was desperate for an answer.

A little later, a friend emailed me another site, PetMeds, which had the answer I was looking for. I emailed the other website, told them I no longer needed the answer and to refund the $9. They emailed back that it wouldn't be a problem, and offered an answer which still did not address my question so I told them I still wanted the refund. They said OK. I waited a week for it to show up in PayPal. Then I opened a dispute in PayPal who then took on the issue. Today, I got my refund from PayPal.

This is the third time I have used PayPal's resolution center to help with purchases or services other than eBay. They are most helpful. I don't think a lot of people realize all that PayPal offers. It's the only way I pay for anything, books, clothes, etc. whenever it is offered. I know if there is a problem, it will get solved, and I'm not giving out my bank account info all over the internet.

Good to know about PP. I always charge online purchases thru my credit card with my credit union. They are very responsive and my refunds are done within 2-3 days. All CC offer this but with a big bank or whatever it might take longer. Just 1 of the many reasons I "bank" only at credit unions.

Thanks for your post. You have let a lot of people know who wouldn't otherwise trust paypal. I really like paypal and use it everywhere I can.

I'm glad your experience with PP has been positive. However, after seeing a news article recently about how easy it is for thieves to gain access to your banking account information thru PP, I canceled my account. I just do not want to risk ever having to go thru the hassle of trying to get my money back. Just too easy to use a credit card for most on-line purchases. Also, I believe that if there is fraudulent activity with a credit card the consumer is only obligated for the first $50. Honestly, I was never comfortable using PP. Just scary that anyone has access to my banking account information. But that's just me...

I totally agree with you. I use PayPal as often as I possibly can. They're safe, quick and efficient. One can send money to friends overseas, buy almost anything on the net now - and it's just a password to activate the account. Your details are never sent on to the person to whom you are sending money, or buying goods from.

I think PP is safer than going on line for purchases and using your credit card on other sites for all your purchases. You don't really know who you are giving that # out to and who sees it .I have had emails trying to get my PP account. They tell you that your account has been compromised and to go to this link which looks like a PP but isn't and tricking you to giviing out your info. Be smart don't follow those links when you get any of those emails. I instead went to my PP and nothing was wrong with and didn't have to change anything. I also have gotten those from supposely banks saying my account has been compromised. Be smart THINK before you ACT.

I've used Paypal for years & have always been happy with it.
What convinced me the most was several years ago, when someone on ebay (I think), managed to somehow charge my Paypal acct for quite a lot of money (several hundred).

Paypal caught it before I did. The transaction had been made, but Paypal reversed it before the money was ever taken out of my bank account I didn't discover it for over 2 weeks later, when I signed into Paypal for something & saw what had happened & called them!

Sympathize with your drama and these people but by "furball" presume you mean feline? with no disrespect a simple phone call to your Veterinarian may have been better.
