In a medium skillet, brown beef or sausage and onion. Season to taste, drain well and set aside. While it is cooking, you can make the batter. In a small bowl, combine all crust ingredients. Mix until smooth and pour into a 12 or 15 inch pizza pan which has been greased and floured, tilting pan so batter covers bottom. Arrange the meat mixture over top. Add mushrooms if desired. Bake on low rack at 425 degrees F for 25-30 minutes. Remove from heat. Pour 1 cup pizza sauce over top. Sprinkle with 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese. Bake for 10-15 minutes longer.
