Have a Cleaning Schedule

I find it's easier to keep up on the housecleaning if I have a cleaning schedule. It's also easier for my 4 year old son because he is learning that each day we have different chores and he knows what is expected.

My schedule is basically: Monday I clean the living room, dust, vacuum, Febreze the furniture, give it a complete once over, Tuesday is the dining room, Wednesday the kitchen, and so on so forth.

I also have daily things I do too such as dishes, putting toys away, cleaning the litterboxes, etc. It breaks the chores down into maybe 30 minutes of cleaning a day, but my house stays tidy and neat and it's easy for me to keep up with.

Years ago when I was growing up in the 50"s mothers had cleaning schedules. Monday's was wash days (in summer the laundry hung outside to dry). Tuesday's was ironing day. I remember in the summer when it was extremely hot out (we did not have central air in those days) my mother would put a fan on and iron in her bra. She kept her blouse close by in case someone were to come to the door. I think Wednesdays was wash the floor day.

Can't remember what Thursday was, but Friday was clean house day and Saturday was grocery shopping day where my dad had to take her because she didn't drive and besides, there was only one car in the family anyway. For the women in our neighborhood who did drive, if they wanted the car, they took their husband to work in the morning and picked him up in the early evening, in time to be home to a home cooked meal. Those were the good ol' days I don't care what anybody says.
