Interesting question! I really don't know :-( How do you tell whether an ant or a spider or a mosquito is a girl or a boy?
I think i know how you can tell for rolypolys, the girls have a lighter colored shell with brown dots, and boys have darker shells.
Only female mosquitoes bite. Male mosquitos are attracted to nectar
Female mosquitoes suck your blood for their eggs, males dont
Female mosquitoes drink blood while males drink nectar. Female spiders are bigger. Male ants have wings.
I tried to control myself, but I just have to ask...why would you need to know? Oh well, we get all kinds of questions on here, so I decided to link to google, a place where you might want to start first, and see if I can help.
I need to know because I am trying to raise a successful community of them... I feel the ones I bought were a bunch of males because I haven't seen a single solitary little one so far.
well i mean i kept some as a pet so i was just wondering you know but i guess you dont really need to know

Male pillbugs, roly polys, sowbugs, and anything else you call them are related the shrimps, and lobsters. They are not insects, and not speders, they are sea animals. They still have gills from the old, old, days, but they forgot how to use them.
You can tell by looking at there backs. If you see white dots/specks on there backs then its a girl, they will also have white dots on there legs underneath them.
The males have longer antenna and the females have a pouch. Also the males will sometimes climb over females.
All pill bugs piggy back off eachother nit just males on females
Actually that is all wrong about the spot thing it I because girls have a pattern on their tummy that is a leaf pattern

You can tell by looking sat their undersides. Males will have a darker coloring and a female will be noticeably lighter. Also if they have a clear "line" of exoskeleton down the middle of their abdomen than they are female.
Im trying to make a community of them so I guess I need to know.
I have a roly poly, but it stays rolled up most of the time. How can I see it's belly to figure out if it's a girl or a boy?!
You can either let it sit in your hand and wait for it to open up, or you can use a small object and (CAREFULLY) pry it open.
