My mousepad was is sad condition. It showed multiple spill spots, and had peeled up from all four corners. I considered buying a new one. But of course I had to try and use what I had first.
I tossed it in the washer first, and let it drip dry. It came out looking all pretty in color, but still quite dilapidated in form.
Next I used a gel glue pen all over the lower surface of the pad, and pressed the peeled off section back down with my hands.
I let it rest under a heavy weight overnight.
Presto: my mouse pad will last a little longer.

You could have made it "prettier" by gluing a piece of your favorite cotton fabric. I was not "happy" with the picture wich was on mine, so I took a piece of cotton fabric with a "decor" I loved, spread lightly all over white ordinary glue with a brush, laid the fabric which had been ironed.
It's great that you saved it, but just so you know, you can get new ones for just a few pennies up to 1.00 at either the thrift stores or the Dollar Tree.
Like they guy who cut his wide rubber bands in half...some things are more work then they are worth. I love my track ball as it doesn't need a pad.
I don't even use a mouse pad anymore. I use cardboard like from the back
of a note pad, steno pad, out of an old picture frame, half a file folder, or just a sheet of heavy duty print cardboard like for photos or a piece of poster board.
Been doing it for a very long time without any changes in performance.
Try it! You got nothin' to lose and lots to gain.
