Orange Glaze:
Grease 18 muffin cups or line with paper baking cups. Set aside. If using raisins, place them in a food processor bowl. Cover and process raisins until finely chopped. Set raisins aside. In medium mixing bowl, beat sugar, butter or margarine, and sour cream with an electric mixer on medium to high speed until fluffy. Beat in eggs. In a small mixing bowl, stir together flour and salt. Then add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating on low speed just until combined. Stir baking soda into buttermilk. Then stir buttermilk mixture into the batter just until combined. Fold in chopped raisins or currants and orange peel. Spoon batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling each 2/3 full. Bake in 400 degree F oven for 14-15 minutes. Brush with orange glaze which has been made by thoroughly mixing the 2 ingredients together.
