Dairy Pride's Hot Dog on a Stick Recipe?

Back in the 60s there was a place called Dairy Pride that had hot dogs on a stick. It was in Mexico, Missouri. I don't think there was only cornmeal in the recipe. I cannot find the recipe or one similar.

How To Make Corn dogs

Easy Recipe Ingredients & Directions:These cornmeal-coated hot dogs on a stick are sold in beachfront stands along California's southern coast.

1 cup flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup cornmeal
2 tablespoons shortening
1 egg, lightly beaten
3/4 cup milk
1 pound hot dogs
Vegetable oil (for deep frying)
Catsup
Prepared mustard

Sift together dry ingredients. Stir in cornmeal. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Mix egg and milk and stir into cornmeal mixture until blended. Kwiki digs at dairy pride were the best. I've thought of them often over the years and I wish I can make them. I finally checked the other day and found an old post from the 1984 MHS Facebook page. I'm going to try to make an even smaller batch and test it out today. Here is there a smaller version of the recipe.
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup white cornmeal
1 tablespoon baking powder
It did not call for salt, but I am adding some salt, I would say a quarter to half a teaspoon
Stir or whisk in 1/4 cup of Pet or evaporated milk and one cup of water. It states you can add less or more depending on the thickness you want. Then you were supposed to let it sit two hours but I've also seen something that said let it sit one hour. Then whisk in one egg. Dip your hotdogs on a stick and deep fry at 379.

The barbecue sauce did not specify a brand, but it is mentioned that Mauls was used. It made a large amount using:
1 quart barbecue sauce or 4 cups, half gallon or 8 cups of catch-up and 8 ounces of brown sugar. That is still an awful lot and I am cutting that down even further.
