On the materials list for cat trees it lists two boxes, 14 by 15 inches. What material is used for the boxes? Cardboard or wood?

When my husband made one for a friend he covered it with a piece of carpet. You can use the tubes that come out of restaurant grade plastic wrap or aluminum foil and affix it to a board and cover the round part with carpet.
